UNESCO World Heritage site Royal Botanic Gardens KEW in London has botanic collections with over 50.000 living plants. The magnificent scientific collection contains plants from tropical, temperate, arid and alpine climates. Guests can discover the world of science and visit different kinds of gardens. From Japanese landscapes to Mediterranean gardens.
In November ’21 the Family Kitchen & Shop opened. Kew Gardens selected Mizzo Studio who drew on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for their inspirational design. Studio Mizzi assigned the flooring to We Think Resin, who installed the colourful EPI Superbase cast floor.
The fantastical restaurant has a colour palette of bright pinks, mushroom brown and leafy greens, deliberately chosen to evoke the plants and foods found in nature. Its interior is “a magical world,” said Jonathan Mizzi, director of Mizzi Studio.
“We designed a magical world of gardens forests and woodlands, where human beings appear to have been shrunk to the size of small creatures living with nature, in what can be described as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets botanical science laboratory,” he said.

We think Resin selected the EPI Superbase to create the colorful self-leveling floor. The design of the interior and floor was based on plants from the botanic gardens. The floor has organic lines and bright colors to indicate the sitting area and walking path. The interior and floor have the same color and the big windows makes it feel like you’re part of the gardens.
